God Save the Queens! is a sonnet cycle depicting an act of floral resistance following a California gay bar raid in 1968. Through verse and images, GSTQ! reconstructs the night queer patrons marched from the Patch to the police station, armed with flowers and demanding the release of their arrested friends. Eleven months before Stonewall, this early moment of radical gay courage feels every bit as urgent and fabulous today.
